We were pleased to learn, on Monday afternoon, that Elizabeth Kolbert has won the Pulitzer Prize in general nonfiction, for her book “The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History.” Kolbert, a New Yorker staff writer since 1999, has covered climate change and the natural world for more than a decade, beginning with 2002’s “ Ice Memory,” about glaciologists in Greenland, and continuing with her series “ The Climate of Man,” which won the 2006 National Magazine Award for Public Interest.
