Yeah, maybe a month or two before we started shooting, I had gotten really into this show on Netflix called Breaking Amish, which is all about these kids that passed their rumspringa and decided to do this reality show where they get uprooted from their Amish lifestyle. He was like, 'They didn't tell you?' I was like, 'No, I'm the last person to know things.' But they gave me a little bit of time because they knew that I was going to have to work on an accent.ĭid you know what rumspringa was before this? And then I had to Skype with the dialogue coach to make sure that I didn't sound like an idiot, and I was like, 'Blah, blah, blah, I speak German' - and he was like, 'It's not German, it's Pennsylvania Dutch. In episode five, there was that one line of dialogue where I speak what I thought was German, and I thought, That's interesting, this is a little quirk about Leanne that I never knew about. We finally get Leanne's backstory this season. (Side note: Myles wants you to know that she met Rose McGowan last night and is not only obsessed with her but determined to get her to direct an episode of OITNB. Who saw that coming? Earlier today, spoke to the refreshingly upbeat Emma Myles, who plays Leanne (and has perfect teeth IRL, thank you very much), about season three, shooting the lake scene, and getting typecast as a drug addict with nightmarish dental hygiene.
